into the interior

Tomorrow we begin the long drive through the sun-baked interior of the Australian outback, and out to the gold mine. We've told a few people about the upcoming drive. They usually say something along the lines of, "be prepared to see the same thing over and over and over again. Be prepared to see a lot of nothing."

Maybe they're right, but we're looking forward to seeing the surrounding countryside. When you spend so much time living some place, you have to wonder what's just around the corner. Even if it's just more of the same thing.

We'll be on the lookout for the strange and unusual, but if the drive proves to be as boring as they say, then we'll just occupy ourselves with music, dancing, and indonesian language lessons in preparation for our trip to Java, Indonesia next month!
