Noosa today. Gold mine tomorrow. What a huge contrast! It's been a different kind of trip this time. We caught the tail end of a good swell when we first arrived, but by our 3rd day it faded completely.

I wish I could say we've been more creative with the rest of our days. Kayaking through the everglades, hiking through the national forest, sailing and diving. But we didn't do any of those things. In a state of obvious delusion, we continued to try to surf.

After one of those little waves, Mike sliced the heel of his foot on the rocks. It turns out that a pipe busted recently and released waste in the ocean here, so they've been seeing an increase in odd infections. One man just had his finger expand into something that resembled a head of cauliflower, according to Mike's doctor. I hope that doesn't happen to Mike's foot!

Since then, we've just been taking it easy, drinking coffee and eating in restaurants like all the other tourists. I even bought one of those classic tourist shirts with "Noosa" on it in large sporty letters! Photo to come. Until then, I've posted a photo of a deadly looking spider to give the preferred appearance of danger and adventure.
