Today is my last day of work at the Nifty Copper Mine. Being the only person in Human Resources on a mine site with over 800 people is too demanding, particularly with no support from... oh, nevermind. I'll only say that I've learned a lot, met some good people, & yet there may be 1 or 2 that I wont terribly miss working with.
Mike's last day is also in the near future. We both have our reasons. And, we've been offered jobs with Barrick Gold at the Plutonic Gold Mine. This time I'll work as a geologists' field assistant. I like the idea of not having to sit on my bum 13 hours a day, twelve days straight.
We want to work hard and play hard too. Lately, we only do the prior & our few days off are half spent catching up on sleep.
Some other benefits of Plutonic:
11.5 hour day
8 days on / 6 days off
Shorter flight
better airline company
Health & Dental Insurance
work in the same department
Wireless internet at camp
30 minute Lunch Breaks
It will be at least a couple months before we can start work at Plutonic because we have to play the waiting game with our 457 Visas again. In the meantime, my mom & sister will be here to visit for 20 days (Yes!) and Mike will be using up a lot of his accrued days in lieu and vacation hours (Yipee!)
